  Qualifications:
The Clinical Ethicist (Central Zone/Provincial Policy Support) will be responsible to provide clinical ethics consultation services to programs, clinicians, patients/families and administrators in concert with and according to the protocols of the Clinical Ethics Service, Alberta Health Services. Working with the Ethics Coordinator, Central Zone, the clinical service area will primarily be the Central Zone, Alberta Health Services.

The Clinical Ethicist will support local site-based and program-based Ethics Committees in members’ education and skill development in the committee’ service delivery tasks.

Additional commitments in person, primarily in the Edmonton Zone and via telehealth, will be to lead the Clinical Ethics Division’s support of the Clinical Policy Division, Quality and Service Improvement Portfolio, Alberta Health Services.

This position will also assist in the province-wide mandate of the Clinical Ethics Service via accreditation activities, education of stakeholders including the public, provincial ethics team quality assurance activities, province wide ethics capacity development and other necessary tasks on an as-needed basis.

Preferred qualifications include accredited training in Health Ethics at a PhD or Masters level, as well as demonstrated leadership and experience in clinical ethics consultation, teaching and mentoring, assessment and development of clinical policy, and an in-depth understanding of the health system.
