  Responsibilities/Duties:
The Ergonomist in the Occupational Safety portfolio is a professional position reporting to the Lead, WH&S (Hygiene & Ergonomics). The position works with a high degree of independence and in concert with Lead, WH&S (Hygiene & Ergonomics) to plan and implement ergonomic programs and processes. The position provides advice and direction to clients within its specialty function and scope. Interprets client needs, assess requirements and identify solutions to non standard issues and requests. Works to ensure Alberta Health Services values, goals and principles are implemented and integrated in the delivery of services to client groups. The position is also responsible for:
  • Provide ergonomics consultation to employers and employees of AHS.
  • Plan and manage major/complex occupational ergonomics programs in support of the client base.
  • Perform ergonomics field studies and assessments of workplaces, equipment, and jobs utilizing a variety of analytical techniques and methodologies.
  • Develop and design appropriate control measures to remediate ergonomics problems in the workplace.
  • Develop written reports for clients based on ergonomics work performed.
  • Work in multi-disciplinary teams in the development, maintenance and enhancement of WH&S policies, programs, processes, training, etc.

    Qualifications
    A minimum of a certification in the science of Ergonomics with the designation Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE) or related area plus appropriate license or other recognized designation is preferred. A minimum of 5 years in workplace health and safety in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity is preferred (healthcare experience an asset). A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.
