Responsibilities/Duties:
The Advisor, Occupational Safety in the Corporate Occupational Safety portfolio of Workplace Health & Safety is a professional position reporting to the Lead, WH&S (Safety, HSMS & Training). This position works with a high degree of independence and in concert with Lead, WH&S (Safety, HSMS & Training) to plan and implement and workplace health and safety programs and processes. Responsibilities include: Advise and provide assistance to WH&S services, departments, supervisors and workers to allow for informed decision-making regarding exposure to hazardous agents in the workplace Participate in the development, maintenance and enhancement of the AHS Occupational Health and Safety Management System to ensure the organization meet or exceeds regulatory compliance Participate in providing workshops on the readiness, expectation of and implementation of the AHS HSMS Participate in performing regular safety audits to ensure compliance is being met and make recommendations for improvement Develop a Joint Workplace Health and Safety Committee structure to function as solution recommending bodies at the worksite Provide technical and process support to Joint Workplace Health and Safety Committee(s) Recommend appropriate procedures and equipment for safety and compliance with relevant laws Work in multi-disciplinary teams in the development, maintenance and enhancement of WH&S policies, programs, processes, training, etc.
Qualifications A minimum of a degree/diploma/certification in Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline and CRSP designation. If CRSP not present, commitment to complete within 2 years must be provided. A minimum of 10 years in Occupational Health & Safety in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity is preferred (healthcare experience an asset). A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.
